After obtaining a warrant from the Port Shepstone Magistrates Court and issued in terms of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962, the Lower South Coast SPCA Inspectorate Team accompanied by our resident Veterinarian and Hibberdene SAPS seized the dogs to prevent further suffering.

This action comes after multiple inspections, repeated warnings, and ongoing non-compliance of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962. Despite being given ample opportunity to comply and with numerous offers of assistance from the LSC SPCA, the conditions remained unacceptable, prompting legal action to safeguard the welfare of the animals.
The dogs were found kept under dirty and parasitic living conditions, some appeared underweight with Veterinary concerns.
The seized Great Danes are now in the care of the LSC SPCA, receiving veterinary treatment and care.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges of Animal Cruelty will be opened.
