Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Uvongo, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, our organization has been a beacon of hope for animals in need for over 67 years. Our unwavering commitment to animal welfare has only grown stronger with time, driving us to serve a vast area spanning from Hibberdene to Port Edward, and inland to Harding. With the resent closure of the Kokstad SPCA, we expanded our coverage to include their former area, providing essential services to an even broader community.
Our Purpose: A Clear and Compassionate Vision
Our objective is clear: to serve and protect all animals, uplift their welfare, and ensure that their rights under South African Law are respected. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and promote kindness, while our vision is to create a future where animal cruelty is a thing of the past, replaced by compassion and empathy.
Guided by the Five Freedoms: A Fundamental Framework for Animal Welfare.
We believe in the Five Freedoms, a cornerstone of animal welfare under human care.
These freedoms are:
1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst
2. Freedom from Discomfort
3. Freedom from Pain, Injury, or Disease
4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour
5. Freedom from Fear and Distress
And for wildlife, we wish for the ultimate freedom:
